What I'm listening to: J. Cole's "Friday Night Lights" Mixtape
"In The Morning" by J. Cole Ft. Drake
November 12th, 2010. J. Cole released his third mixtape, Friday Night Lights, and from now till then I can't get enough of this twenty track mixtape. Featuring Drake, Wale, and Omen on the bill, J. Cole decides to be on a more relaxed vibe aside from those artists. I compare Friday Night Lights to mostly Drake's latest release Thank Me Later, and all of J's previous mixtapes to Drake's previous ones as well.
Tracks that stick out on Friday Night Lights are:
Too Deep For The Intro - You're alone, wished you knew what to do. Cole talks about how he's half comfortable, partially functional. Laying down his thoughts, being real, and keeping his fans close: Too Deep For The Intro. No crying for this guy. Just wished he could go back to the plan.
Villematic - Is rapping a good way to relieve stress? Then I should head down to CVS get myself a notebook and start throwing rhymes in it. Cole yet again becomes real, but not his audience is the college student heading for his first semester and on towards making that cheese. Haters, Nas, and Miami, Cole is making way for his life and putting beside all the bullshit. Favorite line: I know you feel that, the tingle in your spine don't conceal that. This exactly what you thought, somebody bought the real back.
Higher - Yo past bitch? You see me? Yeah, I'm famous now. About to set this bitch on fire. But you still got it though.
Love Me Not - She loves me, she loves me not.
In The Morning - Will you answer Cole's request on whether or not he can hit it in the morning? Drake is also on the track, spits the same flow, talks about thick women, and how you'll have a Drake guarantee on how you'll have a good night.
Signed to Jay Z's label, Roc Nation and major label Columbia Records, the North Carolina rapper hasn't even thought about taking a break.
