Review: The Adjustment Bureau
The Adjustment Bureau. Directed by George Nolfi, written by George Nolfi and Phillip K. Dick. Based on the short story, Adjustment Team, who would have thought this movie was a science-fiction-thriller romance? It's more like a romance for politic nerds who needs some excitement in their day. Starring Matt Damon (MAAAT DAMMONN) and Emily Blunt, the film takes place in downtown New York. David Norris (Damon) runs for senator of NY, meets famous dancer, Elise Sellas and instantly, they fall in love. Happily ever after?
Nope. They suddenly enter the Matrix.
Well something like that. The special type of Feds that call themselves "The Adjustment Bureau" are people that have to make sure normal civilians stick to the plan. What plan? God's plan? Nope. Just the plan. Leader that's a third step down from "the man" stars Mad Men's John Slattery, which him and his pack of wolves run around NYC to chase after David. Who would have known? At age 48, he still runs like a champ. Even in Mad Men .. drinking all the booze, he's still a champ. His hair is always pristine white, like "hell yeah, you can't stop him" white.
The bureau says that David cannot see Elise and after that line you know it's a love story. Guy tries to get the girl back, then gets stopped, few years later, guy comes back by chance, guy leaves her, few months later, guy comes back, guy wants her back, guy runs with her, guy then ..
You'll just have to see. Yes, I just gave 3/4 of the movie.
I give it a not so ripe tomato if I was Rotton Tomatoes and if I was IMDB, I'd give it the same amount of stars they gave it.
