Dig Up the Dead by Mansions

Mansions, a band that is conducted by frontman Christopher Browder came out with his third album "Dig Up the Dead" off Burning House/King Bones Records.

I specifically love this band because of emotion. Not like most emo bands that just 'sing your heart out' or 'spill your heart out' but for mostly 'singing your heart out in a mature .. real way.' His way of trying to survive as a band in the world is tough, but since he has been dropped off labels (Doghouse) Christopher has been a DIY band by releasing his b-sides and getting just the right public to recognize his music.

Now being picked up and finally travelling on the east coast with bands that have been going through label changes as well, Mansions is back and running. Touring with Into It. Over It. and Ace Endes side project 'I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business,' this dream team of a tour is a tour you will not want to miss. Ace has also made the tour a 'pay what you like' tour so you can catch them in Philadelphia at the North Star Bar for wither $5, $10, or $20 bucks along to meet Ace and a free poster.

After listening to a few tracks off the new album, I especially like the opening track which is also the title of the album Dig Up The Dead. The track reminds me of previous Mansions, continuing from his first release New Best Friends. He sings about his previous themes of relationship and the certain types of ditches in the road. If things tends to end, then he'll start back up again.

"Blackest Sky" and "Wormhole" two tracks Browder released early, give positive vibes through music but lyrically, negative in a sad way. Pretty much drinking whisky solves everything. In "Wormhole" he talks about taking back things he used to say, taking his fans back to his loneliest days.

"Not My Blood" is what you could say, a prequel to "Wormhole." Telling himself not to feel, comparing himself to the salt in the ocean. "Why should he care if no ones listening?" Is saying what he really feels enough? Music or working that 9 to 5?

"City Don't Care" starts off with the same drums as "Blackest Sky" but this time Browder's lyrics are about waiting. I thoroughly enjoy the side vocals through the second verse. "I must admit I'm a little bit .. I must admit I'm a little bit .. I must admit I'm a little bit lost in space. I must admit I'm a little bit .. I must admit I'm a little bit .. I must admit I'm a little bit out of place."
