Introducing: The Weeknd
Wait, you thought Michael Jackson was dead? Are you sure?
Yes. The day Michael Jackson died, we were all devastated. We all stopped what we were doing, took time out of our day and remembered all the good times we had with Jackson's music blasting in the background. Whether you had your first dance party, prom night, or threw a party, someone put on Michael Jackson just to get the dance floor going.
When Jackson died (R.I.P) would there anyone be out there that would sound something like him? Now I'm not talking about continuing his amazing legacy (his music that is, not the other moments) in a disrespectful way, because we all know no one can start a revolution in music like he did. Although, could there be a singer or band out there that would make you think it reminded you of MJ?
In our generation, people have found that whatever sounds good to them is considered music. Good music. Now not bringing back the dead, a pair which contains sexy sounds of lo-fi, samples of hip hop, and mixing together to form a smooth sound of r&b, The Weeknd is your group to go to.
This Toronto (Canadian? I know, everyone's amazing from Canada. What's in their water?) outfit stands out with their bass and lyrics. The duo, Abel Tesfaye and Jeremy Rose, have been producing their chilling tunes and had hip hop/rapper/r&b/actor/canadian Drake, co-sign for them. Drake had been sharing their music over on his blog as well. Many of the comments on that site had also said it sends a "sexy chill" down their spine.
The album reminds me of the beginning of a night, running around with a woman, rando or personal, party after party after party, pass out for a couple seconds, regain consciousness, drink more, drink to forget, oh you'll forget, drugs, drugs, and more, drugs, by this time you're with a different woman or if you're with the personal one (sorry, you lost her) and dance, drink more, black out.
You're awake but it's night time in your so-called next morning.
So you like to chill? You like to dance? So you want to dance like the dead? Listen to these tracks!
